LaDuke Road and Harbor Drive
A whole new world! 10/8/26 through 10/23/26

I am thrilled that our scope has expanded to include Willamette National Forest lands around Oakridge. The Volunteer Coordinator at Cascade Volunteers put me in touch with with staff at the Middle Fork Ranger District. At staff request, I began by surveying along the Deception Butte Trail, FS 5852/LaDuke Rd., and FS Rd. 2404. We put together a plan to get started with a similar triage strategy to what I used at Greenwaters: Go after mature ivy first to interrupt the reproductive cycle. On October 22 and 23 I air-gapped 20 trees at the corner of LaDuke Rd. and Harbor Drive. One of the ivy stems was 35 years old. It has growth rings just like a tree!
What could be more fun than frustrating the sexual reproduction of English Ivy! On top of that: Crisp Fall weather.
