A sea of green

Normally I like a sea of green. A well-maintained lawn, the ferns re-emerging from the rocks along Highway 58, a forest canopy from a distance—all bespeak life, health, vibrancy. It’s harder to appreciate the sea of green ivy just east of the path to the bridge, even if it is kinda pretty in its own way. That’s not a healthy understory. I’d like to go after it.
But first, more urgent matters. A number of the trees in that spot are covered with mature ivy getting ready to bloom and set seed. Some thick stems in there made for slow going in this outing—especially those that had insinuated themselves into crevices in the bark. Four trees liberated.

This tree was a snap.
